This does not sound so difficult! You could say colour accounts for 50% of photography worth the other 50% being Monochrome but the two things are very different beasts. In monochrome we are concerned with tonal range and dynamic range. With colour these aspects apply but we are also confronted with contracting & complimentary, warm & cold colours and how and where we use these in the image. So in many ways colour is more complicated. Lets make progress in Understanding Colour in Photography
