The Colourful Side of Life (captured in images) Camera Club Talk Overview

Ian Howard

Interested in finding out more about this talk - well here's an overview to outline the aims and the content it offers. This is a originated from the ever popular talk The Truth is Black & White which which generated the question with those who attended it "what do you do for colour images". So that was the origin of the talk and it been interesting to discover how little people know about the underpinning theory of colour photography and what makes it work. With the aid of a little theory and a range of images across all genre we explore the world of colour photography.

In The Colourful Side of Life (captured in images) Camera Club Talk Overview I give you a breakdown of the talks contents and structure and how we are going to turn an aspect of photography that everybody delivers into an interesting and engaging evening.

This is not a standard Camera Club talk in that it actively encourages:- opinions, - engagement, - discussion and based on my experience club members have a lot of opinions they are keen to discuss. They generally appear to be surprised about how little they understand about colour photography!

Duration can be from 90min to 2 hours all depending on the group size and the length of your meetings.

So whats the key Aim: This was put together with the aim of getting photographers to think more about their composition which is a general principle and to understand what make colour images dynamic and engaging to a viewer. It also looks to highlight those aspects of an image that add strength and structure to an image. Trying to get people to be more considered more mindful in their approach with the underlying principle being:

Develop your style

Take the images you like

Be the photographer you want to be

The evening is broken down into the following sections:

  2. Setting the aims
