This post covers - Philosophy of Your Photography (Part 1) Camera Club Talk Overview which will give those of you looking to book this talk a good insight as to what to expect.

This is not a standard Camera Club talk in that it actively encourages: - opinions, - engagement, - discussion and based on my experience of delivering this talk, club members have a lot of opinions they are keen to discuss.

Duration can be from 90min to 2 hours all depending on the group size and the length of your meetings.

So whats the key Aim: This was put together with the aim of getting photographers to think more about the what, the why and the how they go about their photography. Trying to get people to be more considered more mindful in their approach with the underlying principle being:

Develop your style

Take the images you like

Be the photographer you want to be

The evening is broken down into the following sections:

  1. Introduction

  2. Setting the aims

  3. How do we see the world relative to how a photograph depicts a scene

  4. What make a great image

  5. Do Titles matter

  6. Evaluation of what kind of photographer you are?

  7. Photography Judges

  8. Opportunity to do some judging!

  9. How do images aim to influence the viewer

  10. Photography versus Art

  11. What makes a photographer

  12. How do we use our time

  13. Comparison of novices and experienced photographers

  14. A mnemonic to aid people in their photography

  15. Street photography issues

Each section is evaluated using my experiences and images as a platform for discussion. The talk will result in a lively and engaging evening and for those clubs that have already had this talk take a look at Philosophy of Your Photography (Part 2) which takes things on a whole step further.
